The primitive lizard brain endures when the higher functions are numb

Ftp is ancient, it's crude, you have to learn arcane incantantations to make the spells work. There must be a better, easier, prettier way.
No there isn't. It's always there, it always works, everyone else uses it and you will too. You might as well suck it up and learn it now.
There are some good reasons for learning to use it in a terminal from the command line, but that's too cruel. Your browser speaks ftp. Your web host has an ftp server on his site. It will be called something like ftp.hostcompany.com and your hosting company will tell you what it is. They will also give you a login name and a password.
You will put the protocol ( that's what ftp means: file transfer protocol) and the name of the ftp server into the browser address bar like so: "ftp://hostcompany.com".
You will need to give your address and password but the details of this vary from browser to browser and also depend on how the host is set up so this is another Exercise for the Student. The good news is, your browser can remember the name and password drill so you just need to get it right once. Then you can drag files into your browser window and off they go.

Good luck,
Dave Driscoll
