Short-sighted Solution
The pockets on every shirt with pockets I have ever owned have openings at the top. At first glance this may seem like a good idea but it is flawed. When I was younger it was not as bad but now I have reading glasses. Which I put in my shirt pocket. And every time I bend over to pick up money, cute animals or edible objects which have not been on the ground too long, said glasses fall out.

The tragic aspect here is that this is all so unnecessary. If my shirt pockets were angled to the side, there might still be positions which would allow objects to fall out, but these are not positions I assume on a daily basis.
The best part is, it would add nothing to the cost of the shirt.
A simple change, the world becomes a better and happier place. You could even keep dump-everything-on-the-floor traditional shirts too.
You're welcome.
